If you have been a bit curious about the trend of wearing full body shapewear, then you may want to invest in your own  pair of Spanx. Well, there are countless brands that offer a plethora of sizes, colors, and fabrics if you want to slim down your figure. Before you choose your shapewear, consider some of the common mistakes that others make when they buy first buy it.

Mistake - Opting For A Smaller Size

Shapewear is somewhat magical in its ability to slim down the figure and project a much smoother and curvy appearance. If you really want to take a few pounds off your muffin top, then you may decide to choose shapewear one size smaller than what you usually wear. This is a mistake. The shapewear will feel too tight and this can cause discomfort. If you really decide to size down, then the pressure on your body can cause some breathing troubles and nausea.

Also, if the product is too small, it will squeeze your body and this cause bulges to develop. This defeats the purpose of wearing the shapewear in the first place.

To make sure you have the right fit, try on shapewear at a store. Stand, walk, and sit to make sure the product is comfortable and that it stays in place well. If for some reason the shapewear does not feel comfortable even though it is your size, look at the constriction type. Medium constriction will help to reduce bulging and strong constriction will contour the entire figure. However, strong constriction may be too uncomfortable for some individuals, so opt for medium constriction if comfort is a concern.

Mistake - Buying Nylon Shapewear In The Summer

Shapewear comes in a variety of materials, but the vast majority are made from spandex, nylon, or another synthetic material. Nylon is stretchy, but it is not a breathable material. This means that sweat can be held close to the body. This can cause some chafing and rash issues. While baby powder can help to reduce some of these problems, you also should think about investing in a cotton-blend product to keep yourself cool in the summer.

Cotton-blend shapewear is often made with microfiber to retain a stretchy feel, but the included cotton will help to wick moisture away since it is porous.

Keep in mind that there are some types of shapewear that are made for moisture and odor control. If you sweat a great deal, consider looking at these types of products.
